GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The No. 5/8 Florida softball team (23-1) opens Southeastern Conference play this weekend at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium, hosting Missouri in a three-game series from March 7-9.

The series opener on Saturday will stream on SEC Network+, while Sunday and Monday’s games will both air on SEC Network with Mark Neely (play-by-play), Michele Smith (analyst) and Amanda Scarborough (analyst) on the call.

Fans can also listen to all three games on 98.1 FM / 850 AM WRUF (Saturday/Monday) or FloridaGators.com (Sunday) with Ryan Urquhart, Sky LeBron and Lance Williams on the radio call.

Florida has won seven straight SEC-opening series going back to 2019

Under head coach Tim Walton, the Gators have won all but three of its SEC-opening series in 20 seasons


The Gators finished their five-game trip to California with a 4-1 record, scoring a combined 76 runs with 86 hits, 15 home runs, 16 doubles and 28 walks. As a team, the Gators hit .515 on the weekend

Florida set new program runs in a single inning (17), runs scored in a game (28), hits (26) and RBIs (28) with a 28-0 win over East Texas A&M on Feb. 26 in Fullerton, Calif.
The Gators have scored 20 or more runs three times this season and plated double-digit runs in 11 games


Taylor Shumaker is the SEC Player of the Week and the D1 Softball National Player of the Week
The last time the Gators and Tigers met was during the 2024 SEC Championship in Auburn. With a 6-1 win, Florida clinched the program’s sixth SEC Tournament title     
Florida ranks No. 1 in the NCAA in doubles (60) walks (131), No. 2 in batting average (.421), hits (279), on-base percentage (.519), RBIs (247), total runs (253), pitching shutouts (10), and No. 3 in home runs (55) and scoring (10.54)
Four Gators rank in the top-10 in the NCAA in hits: No. 1 Shumaker (41), T-No. 3 Kenleigh Cahalan and Gabi Comia (37) and No. 6 Jocelyn Erickson (36)      
Shumaker leads in the NCAA in runs scored (41) and Keagan Rothrock leads the country in victories (1) and games started (12). Cahalan ranks second in RBIs (40) 
Kenleigh Cahalan’s first-cousin Claire is a junior outfielder for Missouri. Claire is the daughter of Kenleigh’s dad’s brother. This will be the first time the two cousins have played against each other
Comia and Ella Wesolowski each matched the Florida single-game double record (3) within a game of each other while in California

The two are just the third and fourth players in program history to hit three doubles in the same game


Madison Walker played her first two seasons at Missouri in 2024 & 2025. She joined the Gators this past summer

Her 18 home runs in 2025 ranked third in a single-season at Missouri. She also ranked third in the SEC in 2025
