The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the victim was shot in the shoulder outside, but managed to escape to a nearby apartment.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is looking for a suspect after a shooting in a Westside apartment complex Sunday night.
The incident happened at the Valencia Way Apartments on Labelle Street. Police responded to the scene just after 6:15 p.m. after callers reported hearing multiple gunshots inside the complex.
When they arrived, police found a man in his early-20s suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder.
In an initial investigation, the sheriff’s office said it learned the victim was outside near an apartment building when he was shot. He managed to escape into a nearby apartment, where the tenant called 911 to report the shooting.
Nine used shell casings were found at the scene, JSO said.
Descriptions of the suspect or suspects are limited. Police say they may have been wearing all black clothing and a red face covering at the time of the shooting.Â
Surveillance video is being reviewed for more details on what happened. Anyone with additional information on the incident is encouraged to reach out to JSO directly or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
