Body-worn camera video released Monday shows the arrest of a 20-year-old woman in Flagler County after deputies say she gave birth, watched the baby die and eventually buried the newborn in a shallow grave. Anne Mae Demegillo told deputies she had the baby at home in a toilet. She then allegedly put the baby in a duffel bag in her closet and left to perform at a local theater, the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office said at a news conference on Friday.A friend called 911 and said Demegillo had told them she was secretly pregnant, gave birth, and did something to the baby.Deputies went to the home near the intersection of Florida Park Drive and Forest Hill Drive for a welfare check early Friday morning, where they found Demegillo and located the baby.Upon arrival, deputies say Demegillo led them to a shallow grave in the backyard. Investigators revealed that she gave birth sometime Thursday and watched her child die. The baby was a girl, weighing 3 pounds, six ounces, and measuring 18 inches long.Detectives say Demegillo returned home around 10 p.m. Thursday and buried the child, wrapped in a towel, in a shallow grave out back. Deputies say the baby was under 4 pounds and appears to have died from abandonment.The woman’s mom was home at the time, deputies said. Demegillo showed no sadness or remorse.Demegillo appeared before a Flagler County judge on Saturday morning and was denied bond.
