TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As the conflict in the Middle East continues, oil prices are rising and it’s showing up at the local pumps in the Big Bend and South Georgia.
AAA reports that the national average price for a gallon of gas is nearly $3.50. In Florida, it sits at $3.49.
In Leon County, gas costs $3.13, about 35 cents more than a month ago. In Georgia, gas costs $3.23 on average. It’s about 10 cents lower in South Georgia.
However, landscapers and lawn care companies are on edge as prices rise.

One local couple said they make four to five stops a day at the pump to fill up their mowers and will have to make some tough choices if prices continue this trend.
“They are skyrocketing. Every day I wake up, they’re up five cents, three cents and I’m like, this is getting crazy,” Ashley McGinnis said. “When our prices go up, we have to make other people’s prices go up just to be able to service those people.”
They’re not the only ones hurting. Drivers and business owners across the country are also keeping a very close eye on the price of oil.
As of Monday, oil is back under $100 a barrel. However, it briefly hit $119, a level not seen since Russia invaded Ukraine four years ago.
