A new cocktail bar and restaurant is popping up in the old Macchialina space in Miami Beach.
Stormy Monday opens its doors on March 12 on Alton Road for a limited run through July. The bar will offer the sort of specialty drinks founder James MacInnes brought to life at cocktail programs at KYU in Wynwood, Kaori in Brickell and Klaw in Edgewater. He was most recently the bar manager at Chef Raheem Sealey’s Asian smokehouse Shiso in Wynwood.
MacInnes has partnered with chef Seth Blumenthal, the former chef de cuisine at Alter in Wynwood who led the kitchen at the Michelin-starred Le Jardinier in the Design District. Former baseball star Jason Kipnis is also a partner.
MacInnes, who calls Stormy Monday a place that’s “cool without trying too hard,” said their combined experience has paved the way for this opening.

“We’ve worked every shift, closed every kind of bar, and learned from some incredible people,” he said. “This project is really about two Miami guys getting to build the bar we always wanted to hang out in.”
The space, which Macchialina vacated for its larger spot next door, was briefly home to Fluke, a short-lived martini and crudo bar from the Macchialina team that closed in August 2025. As Stormy Monday, the space will seat 55 guests, including the spots at its 10-seat bar, and will offer live music.
Special cocktails include the Dahlia, with mezcal, bitter bianco, smoked red grape and Thai basil as well as the Intercontinental, which features a barrel-aged blend of spirits, palm sugar, shea butter and palo santo. There’s also the Sidewalk Spritz especially for hot days, with aperitivo, orange, tomat de arbol and carbonated Chablis.
The menu is simple yet elevated; foie gras xiao long bao with jam; smoked mahi mahi dip; pulled beef tendon with a chili lime dipping sauce and smoked Beemster cheese served with fermented South Florida honey.
