The Cape Coral Seahawks will face off against the Gateway Charter Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cape Coral will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Cape Coral came out on top against Gateway on Monday thanks in part to the team’s impressive five-run sixth inning. The Seahawks put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 10-4 victory. Considering the Seahawks have won four matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday’s blowout was nothing new.

Steven Bobovnick made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn’t given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs. Cape Coral is undefeated when Bobovnick posts two or more runs, but 3-5 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Sammy Mendoza tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn’t given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, Carter Heisler and Jonnathan Rabeiro did most of the damage at the plate: Heisler went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Rabeiro went 2-for-4 with four RBI and one run. That’s the most stolen bases Heisler has posted since back in February of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kellen Engelhart, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
Cape Coral always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gateway only posted an OBP of .321.
Meanwhile, there’s no place like home for Gateway Charter, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Immokalee on Friday. While the Griffins didn’t have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it’s starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Gateway Charter’s victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jack Anastasio, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run. Another was Jakob Rivera, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.
Cape Coral now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Gateway Charter, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Tuesday’s game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cape Coral has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .465. However, it’s not like Gateway Charter struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .463. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Cape Coral came up short against Gateway Charter when the teams last played back in March of 2025, falling 8-4. Can the Seahawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll find out soon enough.
