The Miami Heat will be without Tyler Herro on March 10 against the Washington Wizards.

The Miami Heat will be without an important piece against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday, March 10.

Starting point guard Tyler Herro was added to the injury report on Tuesday afternoon with left quad soreness. After warming up, the Heat decided to rule Herro out against the Wizards.

Herro has battled injuries throughout the season, playing in just 20 of the team’s 65 games this season. He entered the regular season recovering from an ankle surgery that caused him to miss the first 17 games of the Heat’s season.

He then fractured multiple ribs in January, causing him to miss over a month of games. While the treatment of Herro’s new quad injury appears to be a precautionary move, it’s still a situation to monitor.

“Just happy to be playing basketball again,” Herro told Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald after he returned to the court in February. “It’s been a rough couple of months, going through different knick-knack injuries. Nothing really super big of an injury that’s going to affect my whole body or career in the long term, which is the hard part about it, because it’s just small, little injuries that I have to get over. So I’m happy to be back.”

Tyler Herro has Been Playing Some of the top Basketball of his Career

Tyler Herro has been playing some of the best basketball of his career since returning from injury. Herro has scored 25 or more points in three consecutive games, including finishing with 33 points, 9 assists and 9 rebounds against the Charlotte Hornets.

For the season, Herro is averaging 22.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He’s also part of the illustrious 50-40-90 club with just 17 games left in the season.

The Heat have won five consecutive games, and the play of Herro has been instrumental to the team trying to pull out of a play-in spot.

The Miami Heat will be Shorthanded Beyond Tyler Herro against the Washington Wizards

The Miami Heat won’t have multiple starters beyond Tyler Herro against the Washington Wizards.

Heat guard Norman Powell will miss his sixth straight game with a groin injury. His status is week-to-week and likely won’t return to the court for multiple games. Heat forward Andrew Wiggins will miss his third straight game with a toe injury.

However, the Heat’s injury report will see a couple of new additions against the Wizards. Center Kel’el Ware suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s previous game against the Detroit Pistons and won’t play against the Wizards.

Heat forward Nikola Jovic also remains out with lower back management.

With the additions to the Heat’s injury report, Anthony Chiang reported the team will go with a starting lineup of:

Guard Davion Mitchell
Guard Kasparas Jakucionis
Forward Myron Gardner
Forward Pelle Larsson
Center Bam Adebayo

This is the first time the Heat will utilize this starting lineup. It’s the team’s 22nd different starting lineup.
