Each year, faithful individuals across the nation gather from sunrise to sunset on the National Day of Prayer, held on the first Thursday of May. Since 1988, the Fort Myers community has honored the National Day of Prayer at the Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast.
Southwest Florida Community Prayer Breakfast Inc. was founded to guarantee that the prayer breakfast continues to be celebrated annually, thanks to the generous support of local businesses, organizations, individuals and foundations. The mission of the breakfast is clear: to encourage members of our community to call on the power of prayer in their lives and thank God for his many blessings.
This year, on Thursday, May 7, we have the honor of welcoming keynote speaker Nick Vujicic of NickV Ministries to Fort Myers as our keynote speaker. In 1982, Nick Vujicic was born in Melbourne, Australia, without arms and legs. However, Nick didn’t just adapt to these physical limitations; he thrived and refused to let his condition limit what he was capable of throughout his life.
Despite his challenges, Nick’s calling has been to serve as the hands and feet of God.
Faced with obstacles that differ from most, Nick hasn’t let his unique and unprecedented situation deter him from pursuing his dreams and finding his purpose. As a child navigating life without limbs, he dealt with loneliness and depression, yet his faith in God unlocked hope for Nick Vujicic, igniting the fire for the work he does and the inspiration he grants to those in need of healing across the world.
In 2005, Nick traveled from Australia to Southern California to embark on a mission – creating NickV Ministries, a global nonprofit ministry that spreads the Gospel and brings unity to the body of Christ through his life and testimony. Now, 20 years later, he has traveled to nearly 85 countries to share his faith and testimony with more than 944 million people.
From reaching incarcerated individuals to touching wider communities through events like the Prayer Breakfast, Nick Vujicic prioritizes four focus areas: Live Outreach Events, Prison Ministry, Student Ministry and Prayer & Encouragement.
Now a best-selling author, musician, actor and world-renowned speaker, he has lived a fulfilling life unhindered by his differences. Through the power of his voice, he has united the world to serve a higher power with each word he speaks. Nick grabs the hearts of individuals searching for purpose and peace. By 2028, Nick V Ministries hopes to share the Gospel with one billion more people.
We are honored to have Nick Vujicic touch the hearts of Southwest Florida at this year’s event.
All are invited to unite in a morning of gratitude and inspiration on Thursday, May 7, at Caloosa Sound Convention Center in Fort Myers. A complimentary breakfast service will be available starting at 6 a.m., and the program will begin at 7 a.m.
The annual event is made possible by the generosity of sponsors. Thanks to their contributions, there is no admission cost. Parking is complimentary at City of Palms Parking Garage, courtesy of the City of Fort Myers.
