PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — Construction is underway on a major new park project in Port St. Lucie, and city leaders say one of its biggest attractions — an integrated BMX racetrack facility, pump track and bicycle safety learning facility — is expected to open in 2026.

The city says the BMX facility is planned as part of Tradition Regional Park, a 110-acre regional destination taking shape in the Tradition area, about a quarter-mile from the current Tradition Parkway terminus near the Fern Lake Roundabout.

According to the City of Port St. Lucie, the park is designed to be a large active space with baseball, softball, soccer and multi-purpose sports fields. Plans also include regional attractions such as a possible bark park, food truck and art event space, disc golf and an adventure playground. City leaders say the park will also feature passive amenities like nature trails, observation areas and a canoe/kayak launch.

The BMX component has been a standout piece of the project since its early planning stages. The city says the effort began in spring 2022, when USA BMX started discussions with Port St. Lucie during a feasibility study for a park project that would include a state-of-the-art BMX track.

On its park webpage, the city says construction is underway, with updates posted from February 2026, and notes the project also held a groundbreaking in July 2024.

City leaders have promoted the BMX track as a unique amenity for the growing Tradition area, with plans for it to serve both competitive riders and families. The larger park is also expected to help meet the recreational needs of current and future residents as development continues expanding in western Port St. Lucie.

Tradition Regional Park is located at 13120 SW Tradition Parkway in Port St. Lucie.
