Tracking a front that will bring storms tomorrow morning to Tallahassee, the Big Bend and South Georgia

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – A strong cold front will bring storms to tomorrow morning’s drive and more comfortable weather to follow.

This evening and overnight

If you are heading out for dinner this evening, the summer-like weather is still here. Humid, with temperatures in the mid-80s, near record territory.

It will stay humid overnight with lows staying in the 60s. Clouds and fog overnight ahead of a cold front.

Approaching the front will bring a stormy start to your Thursday

A cold front will move through the Big Bend and South Georgia tomorrow morning, bringing a line of showers and a few strong storms.

Rain will enter the western Big Bend and Western Georgia before sunrise, with the line moving through the eastern Big Bend and South-central Georgia through the early afternoon.

Main Threats:

Damaging wind gusts (50-60 mph) will be the primary risk with this systemA couple of tornadoes are possible. The greatest tornado risk should stay to our west, but close enough to watchHeavy downpours with totals between 0.25 and 0.75 inches, with isolated locations up to 1 inch.

The line of storms will likely be strongest as it moves through the western panhandle, gradually weakening from west to east. The greatest risk for severe weather is west of the Apalachicola and Flint Rivers.

Sun will break out for the second half of your Thursday and it will turn breezy with gusts between 20 and 30 mph. Highs in the low 70s.

Cooler on Friday

If you were not ready for the heat and humidity, Friday’s weather is for you. Friday will be a comfortable day with highs in the lower 70s and mostly sunny skies. Lows Friday night will drop to the 40s, a chilly night ahead!

Warmer weekend

The “cool spell” will be short-lived. Highs return to the 80s on Saturday. It will be a great day to get outside and enjoy the weather.

Those hoping to head to the Gulf, winds will be light and waves will be 1 foot or less and a light chop in inland and protected waters.

The next weathermaker

Another weather system moves through Sunday into Monday, bringing scattered showers and a few thunderstorms, mainly to the eastern parts of the area. A stronger cold front follows Sunday night into Monday, bringing another round of cold air. Highs fall into the 60s, maybe 30s for lows, by the middle of next week.
