FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (CBS12) — More than 150 excited young girls got a chance to step into the world of aviation this weekend during JetBlue’s “Fly Like A Girl” Day in Fort Lauderdale — and they showed up in style.
The girls arrived in matching bright-blue “Fly Like A Girl” T-shirts, turning the JetScape Services hangar into a sea of blue as they explored a JetBlue aircraft up close.

Hosted on Saturday, March 7, the event gave kids the chance to climb aboard a commercial jet, sit in real passenger seats, and pose for photos behind the controls — all while meeting the pilots, mechanics, and crewmembers who help keep flights in the air every day. The hands-on stations let them learn how airplanes fly, how crews prepare for takeoff, and what it really looks like to work in aviation. The annual program is designed to spark interest in aviation and STEM careers and Fort Lauderdale has been a recurring stop since 2023.
Chaperones snapped photos as the girls lit up while exploring the cabin, proudly taking their seats like future travelers — or maybe future pilots.
U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz also attended the event, supporting JetBlue’s push to inspire the next generation of women in aviation.
The event took place inside the JetScape Services Hangar on SW 34th Street, just outside Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
From posing in aircraft seats to meeting the women who already fly like pros, the day gave these young girls a glimpse of what their own futures could look like — and plenty of adorable memories to go with it.
