MIAMI — The Miami Heat will remain without sidelined Norman Powell, Andrew Wiggins and Nikola Jovic for Thursday night’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks at Kaseya Center, with Tyler Herro and Kel’el Ware upgraded to questionable.
Herro missed Tuesday night’s victory over the Washington Wizards due to soreness in his left quadriceps. He attempted to warm up pregame, before it was determined he was unable to go.
Ware also missed the record-setting blowout of the Wizards, sitting out with a shoulder strain sustained late in Sunday night’s home victory over the Detroit Pistons.
Tuesday night’s absence was Herro’s first in 18 games, since he missed the Jan. 25 road victory in Phoenix with a hamstring strain.
Ware had not missed a game since Jan. 28 before sitting out Tuesday with the shoulder ailment.
Thursday night’s game marks the seventh consecutive absence for Powell due to a strained right groin, having now missed 11 of the past 17 games due to a combination of time off for the birth of his daughter, lower-back tightness and now the groin strain. He was listed as week-to-week with the groin strain on Feb. 27.
The Bucks game will mark the fourth consecutive game Wiggins will miss with an inflammation of his left big toe, an ailment that also had him out for a game last month.
Jovic will miss his 10th game for injury management of his lower back, having last played in the Feb. 20 road victory over the Hawks.
Guard Jahmir Young remains on assignment to the Skyforce as part of his two-way contract, with Terry Rozier still away from the team on NBA leave amid federal charges in the FBI gambling investigation.
For the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo, who missed the Bucks’ Feb. 24 victory over the Heat in Milwaukee, is not on their injury report and is expected to play.
Listed as questionable for the Bucks are Kevin Porter Jr. (knee), Bobby Portis Jr. (spine) and Jericho Sims (knee) are questionable. Out for the Bucks are Alex Antetokounmpo (G League) and Cormac Ryan (G League).
The game against the Bucks will determine the season-series tiebreaker, which is tied 1-1 in the three-game series, although the Bucks enter nine games behind the Heat, as they fade even from the play-in picture.
