Four people have been arrested in more than two dozen reports of stolen vehicle rims and tires across Miami-Dade County, the sheriff’s office said.
According to authorities, they received 25 reports about these thefts from Sept. 26 through Oct. 16.
At least one of these was caught on Ring camera video near Southwest 107th Terrace and Southwest 138th Place, where three people in a pick-up truck could be seen stealing four tires off a Toyota Corolla parked in a driveway.
“They backed into our driveway and did this in less than four minutes,” said the homeowner, who did not want to share his name.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that it identified three primary suspects, and on Wednesday, they executed a search warrant at their home.
All three were taken into custody without incident. A fourth person who was “involved in dealing the stolen property” was also taken into custody, the sheriff’s office said.
“During the search, detectives recovered numerous sets of rims and tires linked to the reported thefts, as well as tools commonly used to remove rims and tires from vehicles,” authorities said.
Of the 25 cases, authorities say the following 20 were solved: four in the Midwest District, nine in the Hammocks District, two in the Kendall District, and five in the Northwest District.
