PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (CBS12) — A West Palm Beach man was arrested Tuesday night after deputies say he rode a motorized bicycle while intoxicated with a child seated on the back, resulting in minor injuries to the child when the bike fell.
According to an arrest affidavit from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office, Kevin Joseph Cline, 32, was taken into custody March 10, 2026, following an incident near Prima Vista Boulevard and U.S. Highway 1 in Port St. Lucie.
Deputies responded around 10:06 p.m. to reports of a man operating a bicycle with a crying child on the back, according to the affidavit. When they arrived, they identified the man as Cline.
The report states that Cline had been riding a black EUYBIKE motorized bicycle and attempted to get onto the sidewalk in front of a McDonald’s when the bike fell sideways. The child suffered scrapes to a knee in the fall, and deputies noted the child was not wearing a helmet.

The affidavit states there was a strong odor of alcohol coming from Cline’s breath when deputies spoke with him. Cline agreed to perform field sobriety exercises, during which deputies observed multiple signs of impairment.
After being transported to the St. Lucie County Jail, Cline consented to a breath test. The results were .116 and .119 blood alcohol content, both above Florida’s legal limit of .08.
Cline was charged with driving under the influence, a violation of Florida Statute 316.193(1)(a), and child neglect without great bodily harm under Florida Statute 827.03(2)(c).
He was transported to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
