CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After an exciting win in Raleigh on Tuesday (March 10), Charlotte Softball is back in action this weekend for an American Conference series with South Florida, down in Tampa.

Charlotte

Charlotte is most recently coming off an 8-5 comeback victory over NC State that kicked off the team’s seven-game road stand on Tuesday (March 10). Tuesday’s match up saw the Niners score eight runs, seven of which occurred with two outs, in the seventh inning to overcome a 5-0 deficit and move to 3-0 against ACC opponents this season. 

South Florida

USF is most recently coming off an American Conference sweep over Memphis, which occurred last weekend. The three-game series included the Bulls outscoring the Tigers 26-9, including a 12-3 run-rule victory in game two. 

SERIES HISTORY

The Niners and the Bulls have met up 38 times since 1986. South Florida leads the head-to-head 35-3 and was the only American Conference team to sweep Charlotte last season. 

TEAM LEADERS

Charlotte

Jenna Lord now leads the Niners in almost every offensive category. Lord leads the team in hits (34), average (.430), runs scored (25), and slugging (.709). Jaylah Jarrell is the only other Niner batting .400 or better with a .415 average. Teagan Ritchie leads the team in RBI with 22 and homers with seven. Charlotte has eight different players who have hit a home run this season. 

In the circle, Taylor Jones leads the team in innings pitched with 59.2 and leads the team in wins with five. Aubrey Yarnall leads the team in ERA at 4.87, and Brooke Bowling leads the team in strikeouts with 44. 

South Florida

Toryn Fulton and Karhys Pierce lead the team in batting average at .359 and .358, respectively. Alex Wilkes leads the Bulls in homers and RBI. Wilkes has seven home runs and 33 RBI thus far. The Bulls have only five different players who have hit a home run. 

In the circle, Anne Long leads the team in innings pitched with 49.1 and also leads the team in ERA at 1.56. Belle Sardja is not far behind Long with 41.2 innings pitched. Long (36)  and Carley Ernst (33) lead the team in strikeouts.
