JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After opening the spring season with a head-to-head against Villanova and a Senior Day intra-squad celebration, the Jacksonville Dolphins up the ante this weekend with a pair of events against in-state foes.

“This is the first weekend of official racing for our spring season and we could not be more thrilled,” head coach Mike Lane said.  “Not only do we race a top 15 program in UCF we then get to open our MAAC Conference racing will Stetson. You could not ask for a better opportunity to reset our spring standards!”

UCF, Friday May 13
JU’s first tilt is another head-to-head battle, this time taking on the UCF Knights in Orlando. The Knights entered the season as the No. 15 ranked program in the CRCA Coaches Poll. UCF is fresh off a historic season, winning the Big 12 Championship and breaking through among the best programs in the country.

The Dolphins will go toe-to-toe with the Knights Friday afternoon on Lake Pickett in Orlando. Jacksonville will race six boats in Friday’s duel, starting with the third Varsity 8+ at 3:40 PM and ending with the first Varsity 8+ at 5 PM.

In between, the Dolphins will contest the three Varsity 4+ crews and the second Varsity 8+. The racing will be streamed on UCF’s YouTube page, link found HERE.

Stetson Showdown, Saturday May 14
The Dolphins will have their first multi-school regatta of the season Saturday down in DeLand. Hosted by MAAC and in-state rivals Stetson, the event will feature eight schools: UConn, Embry-Riddle, Florida Tech, Nova Southeastern, Rollins, Stetson and Jacksonville.

All six crews that will battle UCF Friday will be back on the water Saturday in DeLand. The races will be split into a morning and afternoon wave. The morning session starts with the first Varsity 8+ at 9 AM.

The first and second Varsity 8+ as well as the first Varsity 4+ will be the only three crews rowing in the afternoon wave.
