The Sanibel Fire and Rescue District attended a grant presentation on March 6 at a city of Naples fire station. Florida Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia presented it with funding through the Florida Firefighter Cancer Decontamination Equipment Grant Program. The district reported that the funds will support the purchase of specialized equipment designed to reduce firefighters’ exposure to carcinogens encountered during fire incidents. In attendance were Sanibel Fire Chief Kevin Barbot, Deputy Chief John DiMaria and firefighter Austin Lambert, who accepted the grant on behalf of the district.
