JetBlue Airways will soon add more flights out of Fort Lauderdale International-Hollywood Airport, giving travelers additional options out of South Florida ahead of the summer season.

Already operating the most flights out of FLL, the airline is stepping up service as Spirit Airlines tries to stabilize through financial woes, including filing for bankruptcy.

JetBlue on Thursday, March 12, announced four service changes, including converting its FLL-to-Jacksonville route into daily year-round service. The route was previously offered only during peak spring break travel.

Tarvelers will see the Jacksonville route on their booking browsers with service starting June 18.

Also scheduled to start that day are twice-daily, year-round flights to Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) and Tampa (TPA), both previously offered once daily.

Those looking to fly over the Caribbean Sea can expect a daily, year-round route to Cartagena, Colombia (CTG) starting June 11.

“These additions reflect the strength of demand we’re seeing in Fort Lauderdale,” Daniel Shurz, senior vice president, revenue, network and enterprise planning for JetBlue, said in a news release.

“We’re proud to continue investing in Fort Lauderdale with more year-round flying and added frequencies, ensuring it remains one of the strongest and most connected cities in our network.”

The airline, which withdrew operations from Miami International Airport last year, has gradually been adding more routes to FLL and expanding its presence at South Florida’s second-largest flight hub.
