PINELLAS PARK, FL — Bojangles, a national chain known for its chicken and biscuits, has set the opening date for its first location in the Tampa Bay area.

As the brand continues its Florida expansion, it will open its new restaurant at 7930 US Highway 19 in Pinellas Park on Nov. 4, 5:30 a.m., according to a news release from the company.

“Hold on to your biscuits, Pinellas Park… Bojangles is coming to town,” the city of Pinellas Park wrote in a social media post celebrating the chain’s opening. “More fried chicken? YES, PLEASE. More sweet tea? ABSOLUTELY. More excuses to eat biscuits for breakfast and dinner? You betcha.”

The 2,414-square-foot space, which is located on an outparcel of a plaza anchored by Ashley Furniture, was previously home to a Burger King, St. Pete Rising reported in June.

The Bojangles chain had several locations in Pinellas County in the 1980s and last operated stores in the Tampa Bay area in the 1990s, St. Pete Rising said.

The North Carolina-born chain was founded in 1977 and specializes in breakfast and Southern-style chicken, biscuits and tea, all made from scratch. Fans of the brand know its tagline, “It’s Bo time!”

Popular menu items include the hand-breaded Bo’s Chicken Biscuit and other biscuit breakfast sandwiches, as well as Bo’s Chicken Sandwich and Bo’s Chicken Tenders.

The company has 850 restaurants in 20 states with plans to open more than 1,000 in coming years, USA Today reported. This year, the brand has already opened 30 new locations with another 18 planned before the year is over.

“This year has already been a landmark for Bojangles, and we’re just getting started,” José Armario, CEO of Bojangles, said.
