The University of North Florida’s new interim president, Angela Garcia Falconetti, will earn $600,000 annually under a one-year employment agreement signed Feb. 10, according to contract documents obtained by Spinnaker.
Falconetti officially assumed the role Feb. 16, 2026, under a contract approved by the UNF Board of Trustees and signed by Board Chair Steve Moore. She was officially approved by the Florida Board of Governors on March 2.
The agreement is set to expire Feb. 15, 2027, unless a permanent university president is appointed first or the contract is otherwise terminated. In the event of a failed presidential search, the contract may be extended by mutual agreement, as stated in the contract.
Compensation and benefits
In addition to her $600,000 base salary, Falconetti will receive additional compensation and benefits:
A one-time relocation payment of $20,000, due within the first 30 days of her employment.
A monthly automobile allowance of $1,200, though the contract specifies she is responsible for her own insurance and operational costs, including mileage.
A monthly housing allowance of $4,600.
The contract states that the additional compensation and benefits do not count toward retirement or other accrued benefits.
Permanent presidency position
The contract explicitly bars Falconetti from applying for or being considered as a candidate for the currently vacant permanent presidency of UNF.
“Dr. Falconetti agrees that she shall not apply or be considered for the currently vacant position of University President,” the contract reads.
Powers and duties
In Falconetti’s contract, UNF has outlined the responsibilities and expectations for the interim role.
Under the terms of the agreement, Falconetti must devote her full professional time, ability, and attention to the daily operations of the university. Her responsibilities include managing administrative, executive, and academic functions necessary to support the institution’s mission and compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
As interim president, Falconetti’s authority and responsibilities are defined by regulations from the BOG, delegations from the university’s governing board, and policies established by UNF, according to the contract. These duties are also subject to the laws of the State of Florida, including any future amendments. In addition, the university’s board may assign further responsibilities as deemed reasonable.
As stated in the contract, Falconetti’s performance will be evaluated against the university’s strategic plan goals, the BOG’s strategic plan and performance funding model, and other priorities set by the BOT or BOG.
The employment agreement was signed Feb. 10 by Falconetti, Moore, and UNF Vice President and General Counsel Karen Stone.
