MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (WPTA) – Nine men are facing charges in connection with a Fort Wayne man’s death at Miami Correctional Facility.
Trinidad J. Ramirez, 36, died at the prison on Nov. 26. He was serving a 150-year sentence for murder, felony murder, and a firearm sentencing enhancement in an April 2020 triple homicide.

Marcos Casares, 37, Doak McBride, 51, and Kyle Call, 32, were found inside a home in the 1800 block of Rosemont Drive when crews responded to a house fire.
Casares died from multiple gunshot wounds, McBride died from asphyxia, and Call died from inhalation of combustion products.

Ramirez died from 13 stab wounds, according to court records obtained by 21Investigates.
Indiana State Police have charged the following men in connection with his death:
33-year-old Na-Son Smith is charged with murder, voluntary manslaughter, aggravated battery, possessing a deadly weapon as a prisoner, and battery with a deadly weapon.He is serving a 150-year sentence for a deadly 2010 double shooting in Anderson.His earliest possible release date is July 23, 2088.34-year-old Matthew Shepard is charged with aggravated battery, possessing a deadly weapon as a prisoner, and battery with a deadly weapon.He is serving an 18-year sentence for unlawful possession of a gun by a serious felon.His earliest possible release date is March 30, 2037.32-year-old Sherman Thompson is charged with aggravated battery and possessing a deadly weapon as a prisoner.He is serving six years in prison for burglary, resisting law enforcement and unlawful possession of a gun by a serious felon.His earliest possible release date is Feb. 25, 2029.24-year-old Anthony York is charged with aggravated battery, possessing a deadly weapon as a prisoner, and battery with a deadly weapon.He is serving a 30-year sentence for voluntary manslaughter under sudden heat in the deadly shooting of his girlfriend in 2022.His earliest possible release date is Aug. 27, 2045.27-year-old Breon Davenport is charged with aggravated battery and possessing a deadly weapon as a prisoner.He is serving a 15-year sentence for dealing narcotics and unlawful possession of a gun by a serious felon.His earliest possible release date is Oct. 19, 2037.34-year-old David Holder is charged with aggravated battery, possessing a deadly weapon as a prisoner and battery with a deadly weapon.He is serving a nearly 4-year sentence for unlawful possession of a gun by a serious felon.His earliest possible release date is Sept. 8, 2026.35-year-old Victor Adamson-Scott is charged with aggravated battery and possessing a deadly weapon as a prisoner.He is serving a 45-year sentence for a 2009 murder in Marion County.His earliest possible release date is Oct. 3, 2032.28-year-old Aaron Sawyer IV is charged with aggravated battery, possessing a deadly weapon as a prisoner, and battery with a deadly weapon.He is serving a 67-year sentence for murder and a firearm sentencing enhancement in a deadly 2020 shooting in Lake County.His earliest possible release date is Feb. 9, 2080.42-year-old Tony Love is charged with aggravated battery, possessing a deadly weapon as a prisoner, and battery with a deadly weapon.The Indiana Department of Correction does not have information on Love’s conviction or his earliest possible release date.
All of the men are being held at the Miami Correctional Facility.
Court records show the deadly stabbing was part of a larger fight between inmates.
When police spoke with Smith about the incident, he allegedly admitted to the stabbing, but said he was trying to retaliate for another attack.
An autopsy conducted on Ramirez showed he was stabbed four times in the back, three of which penetrated his lungs.
