Florida Trust expands to St. Pete
ST. PETERSBURG — Sanibel-based Florida Trust Wealth Management, formerly Tampa Bay Trust Co., has a new office set to open soon at City Center. Suite 204N, 100 Second Ave. S.
“We have had long-term plans to expand into St. Petersburg,” CEO Terence Igo said.
Local wealth-management executives will include Lucas DeVicente, executive vice president, Wealth Services; Matt Livesay, executive vice president, Family Office Services; and April Stanton, vice president, Client Services.
City to host lead-poisoning event
ST. PETERSBURG — During National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week, will host a Get the Lead Out event on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Childs Park Recreation Center to raise awareness about the dangers of household lead exposure.
The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Childs Park Recreation Center, 4301 13th Ave. S.
Attendees will learn about the city’s upcoming Lead Reduction Grant program, which will offer up to $36,000 in funding for eligible homeowners in the South St. Petersburg Community Redevelopment Area for household lead remediation.
Charity softball set
GULFPORT — The Gulfport Boomerangs Co-ed Senior Softball Team is sponsoring a charity game on Saturday, Oct. 25, 8 a.m.
The game, set for Hoyt Field, 2306 56th St. S., will raise money for the American Cancer Society.
SPC launches financial tech program
St. Petersburg College has launched a Financial Technology Specialist Certificate Program.
The certificate addresses a growing need for skilled professionals by offering specialized training in emerging financial technologies, data analytics, cybersecurity, digital payments and regulatory compliance, officials said.
Through this targeted education, students gain practical skills they can use across a wide range of business careers, including financial analysts, data analysts and entry-level cybersecurity specialists and assistants.
“Our new certificate program is designed to equip students with the tools they need to lead in this innovative space,” said Emmanuel Hernandez-Agosto, dean of the College of Business at SPC.
In addition to technical training, the program encourages students to pursue industry-recognized certifications, such as the FinTech Industry Professional Certification.
More apts. coming to Marina District
ST. PETERSBURG —Sky Town Apartments, billed as St. Pete’s largest mixed-income residential development, recently broke ground on a 34.3-acre site at 3201 34th St. S.
The Skyway Marina District project features some 2,084 planned apartments, a retail area anchored by a Sprouts Farmers Market, and self-storage space.
During phase one of the development, 121 out of 401 units will be designated as affordable housing.
The city provided $4.5 million in funding for the development through a forgivable loan from its Housing Capital Improvement Fund. Pinellas County provided $5.5 million from the Penny for Pinellas fund to support the initial phase of construction.
This mixed-use development will feature studios and one- to three-bedroom apartments, with floor plans of 562-1,370 square feet. Planned amenities include a rooftop lounge and a swimming pool.
Group donates almost $18K
ST. PETERSBURG — The group 100 Women Who Care of Pinellas County recently presented $17,600 to Ready for Life for its new program designed to support parents who grew up in foster care.
Ready for Life’s Family HOPE Center provides a mentoring program that helps families who are at risk of child abuse focus on child safety, setting boundaries, creating family traditions, and problem solving, all in the home of the family.
In addition to the $17,600 donation, Ready for Life will also receive a $5,000 grant from the Richard M. Schulze Foundation. Richard M. Schulze is the founder of Best Buy.
