JACKSONVILLE, Texas (KTRE) – A Jacksonville man is behind bars after police say he engaged in a lengthy campaign of sexual coercion, stalking and harassment directed at multiple people online.
Dewayne Scott Chapline, 58, of Jacksonville, was held Friday at the Cherokee County Jail on bonds totaling $510,000 for warrants that charged him with sexual coercion, stalking and online impersonation.
Over the course of a lengthy investigation, detectives determined Chapline threatened and intimidated a person into sending sexually explicit photos, according to Jacksonville police.
He then used the images to threaten the person and demand additional content, police said.
Jacksonville police arrested Chapline during a traffic stop Friday in the 300 block of Neches Street in Jacksonville and transported him to the Cherokee County Jail, Police Chief Steven Markasky said.
