Miami, Oct. 24, 2025 – Miami Dade College (MDC) and Junior Achievement of Greater Miami (JA Miami) will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a new partnership that provides innovative learning opportunities for students interested in teaching careers. The agreement aims to integrate Junior Achievement’s curriculum in financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and career readiness into MDC’s Teaching Academies Dual Enrollment Program, strengthening the pipeline of future teachers across Miami-Dade County. An MOU signing ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 30, at MDC Padrón Campus. Working media is welcome.
“This innovative partnerships with Junior Achievement reflects our steadfast commitment to addressing the local teacher shortage,” said Miami Dade College President Madeline Pumariega. “MDC is leading the way in preparing the next generation of educators, empowering students to reach their full potential, while helping to build a stronger workforce and support the growth of our economy.”
The Teaching Academies Dual Enrollment Program is a partnership between MDC’s School of Education and Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) and provides educational experiences and knowledge to high school students interested in teaching careers. The MOU will allow Teaching Academy students to engage in hands-on clinical experiences in JA Miami’s partner classrooms, teaching financial literacy to K-5 public school students. Students will gain critical classroom experience while delivering meaningful instruction to young learners across the district.
“We are thrilled to partner with Miami Dade College to expand opportunities for both future teachers and our beneficiaries at Miami’s public schools. We love to see this continuum between students, from learning about financial literacy as a K-12 student to teaching it in college and beyond. Connecting financial literacy and teaching practice will help build the foundation for lifelong success for all involved,” said Lourdes de la Mata-Little, President and CEO of Junior Achievement of Greater Miami.

About Junior Achievement of Greater Miami
At JA Miami, we believe that every child can be inspired and empowered to succeed financially. Our graduates are confident, practical, knowledgeable, and most importantly, prepared. How? We know that we can change their path and change their life by teaching kids about money: how to earn it, save it, spend it, and share it. We provide hands-on, in-school learning experiences in underserved Miami public schools, taught by community volunteers, covering a range of topics from budgeting and loans to career readiness and entrepreneurship. Free to students, delivered by us, and funded by partners and donors. We have been awarded the Gold Seal of Transparency, Five-Star Status by JA USA for exceptional performance, as well as the Miami Chamber of Commerce’s 2024 NOVO Award, and our global office has been nominated for the last three Nobel Peace Prizes.
