Zoo Miami on Saturday was closed after an anonymous caller reported a bomb threat, officials said.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, the all clear was given, and no threat was found.
This was the second time the zoo needed to be closed this week after another bomb threat, believed by officials to be a swatting call, was reported on Friday.
During that incident, authorities said that after a thorough sweep of the property, no active threat was found , and deputies cleared the area.
A statement by Zoo Miami and Miami-Dade County Parks reads as follows:
“In an abundance of caution, Zoo Miami is currently closed to the public following another anonymous phone call reporting a bomb threat. Miami-Dade County Parks staff immediately initiated safety protocols, and the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office has been notified. Law enforcement is currently on site conducting a thorough investigation. The safety of our visitors, staff, and animals is our top priority. The park will remain closed until authorities determine it is safe to reopen. We appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation. Additional updates will be provided as more information becomes available.”
