LEXINGTON, Ky. – Katelynn Oxley twirled a complete-game shutout and the Florida offense continued to roll as the No. 5/8 Gator softball team downed Kentucky, 9-0, in five innings on Saturday afternoon at John Cropp Stadium.

With the win, Florida (28-1, 4-0) clinched its second-straight Southeastern Conference series win and first on the road.

Jocelyn Erickson and Cassidy McLellan each homered for the second time in the series, while Townsen Thomas recorded her third double of the weekend.

Oxley (2-0) picked up her second win of the season in her first career complete-game in SEC play, striking out seven Wildcats and allowing just two hits.

NOTABLES:


With her two-run home run in the third inning, Jocelyn Erickson now has a team-high 15 home runs this season, matching her single-season career high

Of her 15 home runs, 10 have been two-run shots
Over the last 10 games, Erickson is batting .543 (19-for-35), with eight home runs and 24 RBIs, slugging 1.257


With 45 home runs as a Gator, Erickson has now hit the sixth-most home runs in program history
Katelynn Oxley picked up her fourth career SEC win on Saturday and second win of the season

She struck out seven, the most strikeouts she’s had in conference play in her career

Cassidy McLellan hit her second home run of the weekend with a solo shot in the top of the 5th – her sixth of the season
Townsen Thomas is hitting a team-best .667 (4-for-6) against the Wildcats through two games with three doubles and three runs. The redshirt freshman is slugging 1.167 in the series
Taylor Shumaker recorded her 17th multi-hit game of the season and eighth in the last 10 games. She has recorded multi-hit outings in over 59% (17-of-29) of games this season

She’s recorded back-to-back two hit games against Kentucky


Three players extended their double-digit hit streaks: Thomas (13), Erickson (13) and Shumaker (11)
With her eighth double of the season, Kenleigh Cahalan extended her on-base streak to 29 games
Four different Gator pitchers have combined for 12 complete games this season: Keagan Rothrock (8), Ava Brown (2), Leah Stevens (1) and now Oxley (1)
The Gators have recorded 11 shutouts
For the fifth time this season, Florida scored in every inning
