A convicted felon from Minnesota was arrested on Saturday in Miami Beach after being accused of fleeing from officers during a traffic stop, authorities said.

Jirell Tremon, 38, was charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon, eluding/fleeing police, and resisting an officer without violence.

According to Miami Beach Police, at around 4:45 p.m., officers attempted a traffic stop on a black Dodge Durango that was in the 1000 block of Ocean Drive.

Police said the vehicle didn’t stop and kept going southbound on Fifth Street.

A drone was then launched in the air to track Tremon’s vehicle, police said.

During the pursuit, the drone pilot saw Tremon leaving his vehicle on the 700 block of Jefferson Avenue and tossing a black handgun. The pilot then told officers where he was, and he was taken into custody.

Officers were able to find the handgun that Tremon threw out.

After he was arrested, investigators determined that Tremon was a convicted felon from Minnesota.

No injuries were reported during the incident.

Tremon is expected to appear in court on Monday.
