A 1923 Mediterranean revival home in St. Petersburg’s Old Northeast neighborhood is up for sale.
Affectionately nicknamed the “Cake House” for its layered roof and pastel green facade, the five-bedroom, three-bathroom estate at 1311 Beach Dr. NE is listed at $2.15 million.
It was designed by Herman Everett Wendell, the architect behind the Fenway Hotel in Dunedin and built by prominent local developer P.M. Murphy.
Many of the original features, including the hardwood floors and distinct millwork, have been restored. The kitchen has been outfitted with modern appliances, and the primary bedroom features upgrades like a walk-in closet and a marble shower in the en suite bathroom.
Outside is a Mediterranean-style courtyard, complete with the original columns and a wood-fired pizza oven built with reclaimed brick.
There’s also a detached two-car garage with a one-bedroom, one-bathroom apartment.
“The Cake House is more than a residence, it’s a living piece of St. Petersburg’s evolving identity where past and present meet,” Nick Janovsky, the listing agent with Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, said in a statement.
