TAMPA, Fla. — A ground stop at Tampa International Airport was lifted on Monday afternoon as severe weather makes its way through the region.

The ground stop was in place for 1:25-3:30 p.m. due to thunderstorms, but was removed just before 3 p.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

It comes as a line of storms is expected to move through the Tampa Bay area ahead of a cold front. Some storms could become strong during the afternoon and evening hours, with gusty winds and heavy downpours the main concerns.

TPA is also already experiencing hundreds of delays and cancellations as the airport is in the midst of its spring break travel period.
