Patients, visitors and Orlando Health team members will be getting an up close and personal look at what can happen if someone gets colon cancer.
The Orlando Health Cancer Institute, Orlando Health Colon and Rectal Institute and Orlando Health Digestive Institute are hosting a Colon Cancer Awareness Month exhibit at several Orlando Health hospitals from March 5 through March 30.
The event will be highlighted by an inflatable colon exhibit that allows visitors to get a first-hand look at the difference between healthy and diseased colon tissue.
Visitors will have a chance to walk through the colon to see various colon issues such as hemorrhoids, polyps, and colon cancer.
Guests will also have the opportunity to schedule their colonoscopy.
Free prizes, snacks and games will also be provided.
Several other Orlando Health facilities will be hosting the exhibition. Locally viewing will be hosted at Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital, Front Entrance on Tuesday, March 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
According to the American Cancer Society, colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men and women in the United States.
Screening begins at the age of 45.
