TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The 11th ranked Florida State Seminoles made history Tuesday night at Dick Howser Stadium. FSU (17-3) used three different arms to down the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats, 12-1 in a no hit, run rule victory in seven innings.
Not much about the matchup against the Wildcats (14-7) felt like a conventional “no no” with the ‘Noles surrendering a run in the fourth and allowing seven B-CU batters on base, but the combined efforts of Cooper Whited, Brodie Purcell and Cole Stokes kept the hit column empty.
This the first time since opening day 2019 that Florida State has had a staff no-hitter, and the first time since March 27th, 1968 that the Seminoles have done so in seven innings (18-0 over Springfield College).
The ‘Noles will look to keep the momentum going this weekend as they welcome 10th ranked NC State to Tallahassee for a three game stand.
