TAMPA, Fla. — A “shelter in place” order has been lifted at MacDill Air Force Base after a threat was made against the base, officials said Wednesday.
There were no specifics shared on that threat.
In a statement, base leaders said:
“We take all threats seriously and are taking appropriate measures to prioritize the safety and security of our installation.”
MacDill Air Force Base is home to U.S. Central Command which is leading U.S. operations in Iran.
On Tuesday, MacDill Air Force Base issued a Force Protection Condition (FPCON) Charlie. This is a heightened security posture for the Base that reaches the second-highest threat level.
