The Block Jax unveiled Thursday its Community First Bark Park, an on-sight dog park, that has officially opened to the public.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Part of a new development on Jacksonville’s Southside is now open to the public.

“The Block Jax” on Thursday unveiled their new family-friendly outdoor gathering space that includes a kids play zone and the Community First “Bark Park.” The grand opening highlighted Northeast Florida’s spirit of community development.

The Community First “Bark Park,” which is the on-site dog park, will be open for residents with pets Thursday, while the rest of the of The Block Jax, including the kids play zone, entertainment area and more will open Friday morning.

The 10,000-square foot venue intends to be a community space for concerts, events and everyday connections. The planned scheduled hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sundays.

First Coast News spoke with CEO of The Block Jax, Daniel Moffatt, about what it means to have this space in Jacksonville, and what he wants the public to experience.

“I want them to experience being welcomed in here,” Moffatt said. “Meeting other people that are here to do the same thing. Get out, be present and socialize and just experience everything we’re building here for the community.”
