ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —
A first-of-its-kind community is taking root in East Orlando, where residents will not just live near a farm, they will live with it.
The Grow is Central Florida’s first master-planned Agrihood. It is built around a 9-acre working farm that blends homes, gardens and conservation land into one integrated neighborhood.
Construction is underway, but aerial views from Chopper 2 already reveal a vision unlike any other in the region. The nearly 12,000-acre development includes more than 200 acres of preserved wetlands and conservation areas, along with 12 miles of walking trails, greenhouses, harvest and gathering barns, and U-pick gardens.
“It feels like you’re actually in nature,” said Matthew True, Pulte Homes vice president of sales in Orlando. “This is going to enable you to find a lifestyle you weren’t able to find yet here in Central Florida.”
The Grow is a partnership between Pulte Homes and the Marbell family, longtime owners of the land, who say the community is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and connection to nature.
“We are excited to bring the concept to life,” said property owner David Martinez.
Residents will not have to farm themselves. Farmer Nicole Bluh, the Grow’s farm manager and educator, will oversee planting, harvesting and sharing the produce.
Residents will also have the opportunity to join farm clubs, cooking classes and even contribute to an online community cookbook built around ingredients grown on-site.
Plant-based chef Sarah Seeds will guide residents in creating meals from what they harvest. “I love the idea of introducing people to recipes from the ingredients that they are growing right here in Central Florida,” Seeds said.
