The City Council on Oct. 22 approved Ordinance 59-25, an amendment to the vacant-land contract for the approximately 47-acre parcel known as the 7 Islands (Cape Coral Unit 76). The amendment resets the contract closing date from November to Feb. 11 to allow time to finalize associated comprehensive-plan and land-development code amendments and to bring a development agreement to council in January.

City staff described the amendment as a straightforward rescheduling of the closing date to coordinate approvals and noted the amendment is authorized under City Code Section 2-155 for sale of municipal surplus real property. No public comment was made during the hearing and the item passed on the roll call.

Council members said the delay will permit staff to finish the regulatory steps needed before the sale and the subsequent development-agreement review. The ordinance directs the mayor to execute the contract amendment and allows staff to proceed with related approvals.
