Final painting preparations are happening on the exterior of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Walt Disney World as the ride prepares to reopen after an extensive refurbishment.
Painter’s Tape Stripes on Space Ranger Spin
Only a couple of days after the entrance exterior was painted white, arches of yellow-green painter’s tape outline the glass doors into Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.
“X” markings indicate what may be installation points for additional signage or elements or sections not to paint and remain the base color.
The new sign was installed at the beginning of March and is inspired by If You Had Wings, the 1972 Tomorrowland attraction that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin replaced.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Ride Refurbishment

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin closed last August for a major technology overhaul. A first look video inside the renovated Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom revealed the new handheld blasters, interactive targets, and updated scoring system. The climactic battle scene is also updated to add Buzz. Check out these new photos from inside the attraction.
Refurbished Space Ranger Spin Ride Previews
Cast Member playtests of the refurbished ride began on March 19. We know at this time that public previews are supposed to start on March 29, though we don’t know exactly who those previews are open to. The usual Annual Passholder previews have not yet been officially announced.
Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will officially reopen to guests on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
