HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. (Gray News) – Deputies used a grappler device to stop a fleeing driver.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, a driver failed to come to a complete stop and was pulled over Saturday. During the stop, deputies learned the driver, identified as Danny Wilson III, had an out-of-county warrant related to unpaid child support. He refused to get out of his vehicle and then drove off.
Wilson was weaving through traffic and speeding, according to authorities.

Deputies deployed a grappler device, which attached to the rear tire of the vehicle and began bringing it to a stop.
Authorities said Wilson continued trying to escape, but deputies maintained control, and the car was fully immobilized.
Wilson was arrested, and in addition to the out-of-county warrant, he was charged with two counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, fleeing to elude at high speed, two counts of resisting an officer without violence, possession of cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
