Troubling video in Miami captured a man waving a machete and appearing to threaten a stray dog and a family trying to protect it.

NBC6 on Saturday spoke with the family

It was a scary moment for the family, but their main concern was protecting that stray dog in the small community near Northwest Miami Court.

In the area, there are several animals , but many of them are without any homes, and last Saturday, one of those stray’s named Lucky was threatened by a neighbor while outside a woman’s home.

“The dog was here, literally like where that water stuff is, first he came trying to throw a rock at her,” Ashley said,

Ashley asked NBC6 not to show her face for safety purposes, but said that the encounter with her neighbor quickly escalated.

“He goes, ‘Oh bet, I won’t throw this rock,’ or whatever, and then he goes, ‘We were like okay,’ you know, like he’s obviously just saying that,” she said. “Then he comes back with a machete.”

Ashley’s mother recorded the terrifying moments as their neighbor wielded a machete at them.

“I’m going to kill it,” the man was heard saying.

Ashley said they called the police, and luckily, no one and the dog were hurt.

She believes it was due to the video.

“When the cops came, he was saying none of that was true, and if it wasn’t for the evidence that my mom took, like I don’t know where we would have been right now,” she said.

From that day forward, Ashley and her family took it upon themselves to care for the dog until it found a safe home.

“You can’t turn a blind eye to that, yeah, I mean like, you wouldn’t leave a homeless kid or not help out,” she said.

Ashley told NBC6 that the Rescue Dog Network picked up the dog on Friday and is now in the process of being placed in a safe foster home.

As for the man in the video, Ashley said he was arrested that night.

NBC6 has reached out to authorities for details on that arrest.
