Let’s analyze NCAA basketball odds around the Miami vs. Purdue and make our expert college basketball picks and predictions for the best bets.
The 7-seed Canes quieted the home-crowd-fueled Missouri Tigers 80-66 Friday, covering as 1.5-point favorites with the Over (145.5) going to the bank. F Malik Reneau led the way with 24 points and 6 boards. They outrebounded Mizzou 46-30, which spawned 19 second-chance points.
Second-seeded Purdue dethroned the Queens Royals Friday 104-71, covering as 25.5-point favorites as the Over (159.5) cashed. G Braden Smith led the way with 26 points and 8 assists and F Trey Kaufman-Renn added 25 points and 9 boards. These teams last met up Dec. 8, 2020, when Miami covered as 2.5-point dogs in a 58-54 home win. Purdue beat them in 2011 in a 76-65 final.

Purdue 81, Miami 78
There’s no play here with Purdue such heavy favorites — and rightfully so. There is a prop bet that sticks out, though. Take Miami F MALIK RENEAU UNDER 6.5 REBOUNDS (-118). He hasn’t recorded 7 boards in 4 straight games and has only done so twice in his last 10.
Purdue is just 4-6 ATS in its last 10 despite covering in 3 of 4. Meanwhile, Miami is 7-3 ATS in its last 10. The Canes are a well-rounded team, 53rd in the country with 81.9 points per game (PPG) and tied for 62nd in defensive rating. They’ll hang around before the supremely talented Boilers eventually clinch it.
Go with MIAMI +7.5 (-105).
Both of these teams score in bunches. Purdue is 7-3 O/U in its last 10, and Miami has gone north of the total in 3 of 4. This is a fair number.
Go OVER 148.5 (-105).
