ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A house fire that broke out in Coquina Key left an 18-year-old girl dead and two others injured early Sunday morning, St. Petersburg Fire Rescue said.

Deputy Fire Chief Brett Ciskoski said first responders were called to a house on Neptune Drive in Coquina Key around 3:30 a.m., where a large fire was burning.

Four people — a mother and her three children, ages 18, 17 and 10 — were inside at the time. Two people were able to self-evacuate, while two others had to be rescued by firefighters.

The mother, the 17-year-old, and 18-year-old were taken to nearby hospitals, where the 18-year-old was pronounced dead.

The 10-year-old was not injured.

The State Fire Marshall is investigating the cause of the fire.
