FORT PIERCE, Fla. (CBS12) — Crews with the St. Lucie County Fire District saved a cat after knocking down a commercial structure fire on Oleander Boulevard Saturday afternoon.
According to the fire district, firefighters were dispatched to the 2000 block of Oleander Blvd in Fort Pierce at 12:44 p.m. A second alarm was called at 12:54 p.m., and the fire was under control by 1:03 p.m. bringing the blaze under control within minutes.

Images from the scene show fierce flames inside a third-floor unit, with orange firelight pushing through the doorway and windows. On the exterior, firefighters are positioned on the ground and outside the unit working hose lines to stop the fire from extending to neighboring spaces.
According to officials one cat was safely rescued from the blaze.
The American Red Cross is assisting occupants from six units impacted by the fire.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
