A cat was rescued but at least six people needed help from the American Red Cross following a fire in Fort Pierce March 21, according to the St. Lucie County Fire District.

Crews responded at 12:44 p.m. to the 2000 block of Oleander Boulevard, near the intersection with Southern Avenue.

Firefighters called for a second alarm at 12:54 p.m. and had the fire under control at 1:03 p.m. The fire is under investigation.
