Buckman Bridge crash results in death: FHP

A crash on the Buckman Bridge reported at approximately 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening was fatal, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A crash on the Buckman Bridge Sunday evening was deadly, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., there was a crash in a southbound lane of I-295W, close to the west side of the bridge.

Multiple lanes had already been blocked as part of a Florida Department of Transportation project, which calls for closures on intermittent weekends.

It was not immediately clear how many people or vehicles were involved, or how the crash occurred.

Details regarding the victim or victims and the circumstances are expected to be released by FHP at a later time.
