Hello Space Command cadets, your mission, should you accept it, is to help Buzz Lightyear defeat the mighty Zurg. Are you up for the task?

Help Buzz defeat Zurg

If you are, you’ll want to head straight to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin in Magic Kingdom when it reopens with ALL new updates on April 8th. However, we got to check out the ride during an early preview, and let’s just say, a LOT has changed. Let’s talk about what we learned while riding it.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin got a massive update, including new ride vehicles, new scenes, and new interactive targets. The ride also got a new scene with a brand new character, Buddy, who will train you how to become a Galactic Hero. The ride also features a ton of fun hidden details you won’t want to miss.

Meet Buddy

We had the opportunity to ride the updated attraction EARLY, and we’re going to share with you five things we learned while riding it.

How to hold the blaster

The blasters on the ride are new, and they now detach from the holster, so you can hold them however you’d like. But there’s a way to hold them that will help you hit more targets, and we’re going to tell you how.

New blasters

There’s a trick to correctly holding the blaster so that your aim is steady and you can hit targets easily. You’ll want to hold it with one finger on the trigger, and then the other hand on the bottom of the blaster. This will give you the stability you need to better aim at targets, so you can actually hit them.

Hold the trigger

The key to scoring more points with the new blaster is to continuously hold down the trigger, rather than pressing it each time you try to hit a target. Just keep your finger pressed in on the trigger and aim at each target, and you’re sure to rack up a ton of points.

Hold down the trigger on the blaster to get more points

This will make it easier for you to actually hit those targets.

Point blaster at flashing and illuminated white targets

Some targets are random, and you’ll see them as flashing or illuminated in white. Those targets are worth more points, so if you see them, be sure to aim at them first so you can score more points.

if you see flashing targets or targets illuminated in white, HIT THEM for more points

You’ll want to be sure to keep an eye out, so you can move the vehicle in that direction and aim.

You can now score higher than Galactic Hero

Previously, the highest score you could get on Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin was 999,999 points, which earned you the title (and a sticker) of Galactic Hero. However, now you can go OVER that, which means you’re technically a Galactic Hero and THEN SOME.

The scoreboard!

Now, though, you need to hit 1,000,000 to become a Galactic Hero, so be sure to work on getting those targets worth more points!

Each person in the car has their own color

When you get in the ride vehicle, you’ll notice that one person has a green blaster and the other has a red. Each target also now lets you know when you hit it by either turning red or green.

The targets in action

This makes it easier to determine who is hitting what targets.

We’ll be covering Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin when it opens on April 8th, so be sure to check back with AllEars again soon for more.
