A man is dead after a road rage shootout on Edgewood Avenue West, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it responded to a report of a person shot near the on-ramp to I-95 North at approximately 8:20 p.m. Sunday. There, they found a man in his early to mid-30s with a gunshot wound to the chest. He died at the scene.
After a preliminary investigation, the sheriff’s office believes the murder stemmed from a road rage incident on Edgewood Avenue West.

Police said Sunday night that they believe the male suspect and the victim both stopped their cars at the on-ramp and exited with handguns before shooting at each other.
The suspect left the scene, and their identity was not immediately known. The sheriff’s office said they were looking for a male in a small silver SUV.
