Wild surveillance video captured the moment a Tesla crashed into a tree and outdoor patio at a Miami Beach restaurant on Sunday before police said two people who were inside the car were taken into custody.
The crash happened around 8:40 a.m. Sunday outside Norman’s Tavern at 6770 Collins Avenue.
The video shows the white Tesla plowing through a portion of the patio and slamming into the palm tree, sending debris flying.
At least three men are seen getting out of the car and apparently holding their heads in a state of shock before they go through the car and appear to remove items.
“I heard a car going fast and I heard some sirens too and then there was a loud crash,” one bystander said.
Miami Beach Police said that when officers arrived, they discovered that three occupants had fled the scene.

Another bystander was able to capture video of the men in the car running away and jumping over a fence but making sure to take their belongings with them.
Police said two of the people were later detained, and added that they were tourists who were on their way to the airport.
No one was injured in the crash and no drugs or weapons were found on the suspects, police said. The restaurant wasn’t open at the time.
“We were worried but I mean thank God we weren’t open, so there was no one here so we were glad for that,” Norman’s Tavern’s Julieta Lucena said.
The two people who were detained were released without charges, and investigators are still searching for the driver, officials said.
The incident remains under investigation.
