
CAPE CORAL, FL – On March 20, 2026, at approximately 7:48 p.m., officers with the Cape Coral Police Department responded to a home in Southeast Cape Coral in reference to a theft.
A man reported that an individual he met through Facebook Marketplace attempted to steal jewelry from him. The victim pursued the suspect and was holding him on the ground.
Officers arrived and observed Jayden Everett (DOB 11/21/2007) being restrained by the victim. Everett was detained without further incident.
The man told officers he had arranged to sell Everett two yellow gold chains and a yellow gold pendant, valued at approximately $15,000, through Facebook Marketplace. Everett agreed to meet at the victim’s residence and pay in cash.
During the meeting in the garage, Everett produced a scale and began weighing the jewelry. He then suddenly grabbed all three pieces and attempted to flee on foot. The victim immediately chased Everett and was able to take him to the ground near the home. During the struggle, a relative of the victim was able to recover the jewelry. Another relative contacted 911.
Based on the investigation, Jayden Everett was arrested and transported to the Lee County Jail on the following charge:
Grand Theft (Property Value $10,000–$20,000)
