Cameron grew up in a small, Alabama town about 30 minutes from Birmingham. Being from Alabama, he is no stranger to wild weather. Cameron has vivid memories of hurricanes striking the Gulf Coast in 2005 and the historic tornado outbreak that ravaged portions of his home state in April of 2011. These events helped spark his interest in the atmosphere and motivated Cameron to pursue a career in meteorology.
He graduated from Dora High School in 2017. After high school graduation, he enrolled at Mississippi State University. During Cameron’s time in Starkville, he learned from some of the best professors in the country.
When he wasn’t in class or doing homework, he was getting involved on campus. Over Cameron’s four years, he completed numerous volunteer projects like Habitat for Humanity and clean-up days across campus.
In April of 2021, Cameron graduated from Mississippi State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geosciences with a concentration in Professional Meteorology. He said his time in Starkville was so special, and he wouldn’t trade it for anything else in the world!
Cameron landed his first job in broadcast meteorology at WYMT in Hazard, Kentucky. He spent three years serving portions of Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia and Virginia. From winter storms to historic flooding, Cameron was able to sharpen his forecasting skills during his time in Appalachia.
During his free time, Cameron loves to get outdoors, hike and travel. He is also a big sports fan! Feel free to reach out to Cameron anytime by email or social media.
