TAMPA, Fla. — There will be two special elections in the Tampa Bay area on Tuesday to fill seats in the state legislature.
Current Republican State Representative Josie Tomkow and Democrat Brian Nathan are facing off for District 14’s state senate seat.
That district covers part of Hillsborough County, including South Tampa, Carrollwood and Westchase.
The seat has been vacant since Lieutenant Gov. Jay Collins was appointed to that role last summer by Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Tomkow, who is term-limited, has to resign her seat in the state house to run for senate.
Meanwhile, Republican Hilary Holley and Democrat Edwin Perez are running to replace her in Florida House District 51.
That winner will represent part of Polk County.
