LARGO, Fla. — Drivers in Largo are continuing to see a lot of traffic due to ongoing construction on Rosery Road.

Drivers say this sends traffic onto surrounding roads in Largo
The city of Largo says the project is on track to be done in August
The eastbound side of the road has been shut down for a year, from Eagle Lake Park to Missouri Avenue.
“It just seems to go on and on. It doesn’t seem like it’s ever going to get finished over there. And it’s frustrating,” said Largo resident Drew Finn.
Finn reached out to Spectrum Bay News 9 Real-Time Traffic Expert Tim Wronka, concerned about the extra delays the road work is causing. Finn says that the road closure sends traffic onto other roads in Largo, like Bellair Road, Highland Avenue and Missouri Avenue.
“It packs up on the other streets that are south and north of here that you have to use as a detour. And they get piled up with people. You get cars lined up for several turns of a traffic light. And it just seems to be never-ending,” Finn said.
This is all a joint city of Largo and Pinellas County project to enhance Rosery Road, which includes drainage improvements, upgraded water mains and improved sidewalks.
According to the city, the project is on schedule and supposed to be done by the end of August this year.
Like many drivers, Finn just hopes the work stays on track.
“Hoping it can get done soon,” Finn said. “It doesn’t look like anything that’s going to be done soon. There are pipes and machinery all over the place.”
